Beaver Island Community Schools Student Council Funds Youth Mental Health Kits

We are incredibly grateful to the Beaver Island Community Schools Student Council who selected Northern Family Intervention Services as the recipient of their fund-raising efforts. These student leaders hosted a bake sale and a sport-a-thon. Our Executive Director had the opportunity to meet with these students—they asked informed questions about our agency’s mission, how their funds would be used in direct service versus administrative or overhead costs, and what impact their funds would make in vulnerable children's and family’s lives. It is exciting to see youth active and involved in community service and philanthropy. When asked why they selected Northern Family Intervention Services as their chosen donor site they indicated they liked how we came to the family’s homes to help with their concerns and issues and felt that would make an impact. Our staff are honored to be the recipient of these funds and will use these to continue to provide Mental Health Coping Kits to youth we serve, an effort initially funded by the Charlevoix County Community Foundation Youth Advisory Committee.
