Great Lakes Energy Funds Technology for Parent Education

Northern Family Intervention Services has received a $5,060 grant from the Great Lakes Energy People Fund. The grant will allow vulnerable families participating in intensive home-based support programs increased access to technology. Our intervention staff will be using technology to help families achieve goals of parent education,and to increase access to community resources and online applications necessary for gaining self-sufficiency related to housing, employment, and other community resources.


Since its inception in 1999, Great Lakes Energy’s People Fund has awarded more than $4.8 million in grants to nonprofit organizations that serve GLE’s 26-county service area. Grants are funded by participating GLE members who agree to have their monthly electric bill rounded up to the next whole dollar. The rounded up amount is distributed to non-profit organzations and charitable activities that benefit people in commmunities services by the coopeartive.
